Students were asked to use Adobe photoshop to create fictional visualizations of the city of Doha. By researching and selecting images of popular places in Doha, they were asked to manipulate the environments to create surreal, imaginary landscapes that bring new meanings to the space. The project focuses on the reinterpretation of the every day scenery to create new and unexpected environments. Students had think of ways to challenge perceptions and question reality through their images. How can they invite people to rethink the way they experience space and engage with their surroundings? Elements that were manipulated, added or subtracted from their environments included materials, forms, shapes, colors, textures, etc. The project learning outcomes were to gain basic understanding of point of view and perspective, develop image research skills and editing skills in photoshop, and develop visual narrative knowledge.
